Can you help this precious family in Zimbabwe?
Perhaps we should ask: will you help us to help this lovely family?
We need your donations of spent POP CANS!
NOTE! On our very first collection of pop cans, we netted $20.00 for 51 pounds of aluminum cans! Thank you beyond all our words could ever say! The whole of it was sent to our Milly! May God richly Bless you! (November 19th, 2008)
To the left, with her baby in her arms, is one of the sweetest Christian Saints we have ever known. The mother is Milly. The proud Papa is Lawrence. And, just look at the Angelic faces of their children!
Sadly, this family lives in Zimbabwe, and if you know anything about the government there, you also know that citizens who are not now starving to death (or been outright killed by Mugabe and his brutal "police" force) have absolutely no future in this African province under Mugabe's continued rule.
We have known Milly for over nine years now; and for all she has suffered (there is not room here to tell you the whole), she is as Faithful and Passionate a person for our Christ we have ever known. She is one called to literally minister to her own people in her own province. We would like to help keep her, Lawrence, and their children alive until she can do so.
But whereas even three or four years ago, $50 helped so much and could go so far, now -with estimates of inflation in Zimbabwe being over 1,000,000%, even $300 is barely a drop in the bucket. (To see the rate exchange, feel free to visit http://www.xe.com/ucc/full. You will no doubt see on this page that the rate has been 10,000,000,000 old Zimbabwe Dollars to 1 new Zimbabwe Dollar. When the inflation rate causes the citizens of Zim to be unable to carry the HUGE amounts of cash required to buy their needs, they simply issue new dollars to replace the old -but the crushing over-inflated load is not relieved.)
Right now, even the mealie meal (ground white corn -which is a staple to the poorest of the poor) "is like gold", and totally beyond the financial reach of Milly for her family. It is known at "hupfu" in their native Shona language, and once ground, the crushed corn is used to make Sadza -which is a thickened porridge, for their meals. But with the cost of rent and transportation, Milly and Lawrence currently are left with "0" dollars with which to buy any food ... even mealie meal, for their children.
None of us can help everyone. But each of us can help someone, so that they, in turn, can then help their own. We are asking for that help for this family.
Toward that end, we are asking but one thing: if you have POP CANS that you recycle - we would like to have them! I will travel to any area in the counties of LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb and Allen to collect the cans so that we can crush them, have them weighed and send the funds to this family! If you choose, we will take funds from those of you who desire to gather cash for the cans yourselves. But we need YOUR help! Just for their monthly rent in Zimbabwe alone, it takes all of $300 U.S. Dollars ... and then there is NO money left for Milly or Lawrence to buy food for their children or themselves.
If you are a parent, can you imagine watching your children day after day wondering when they might die from starvation? Milly and Lawrence face this possibility every day. And all we are asking is for your spent, aluminum pop cans so that we can help feed this family. (Aluminum dog and cat food cans will help too!)
Please help us help this family! Pop cans are such an easy way to do this. Won't you join with us to Bless this family? Please share your Love today! Thank you!
P.S.: To let us know of your support, feel free to eMail us at: Milly's Need to let us know that you have cans we can pick up to help feed this precious Sister in Christ!
